13 Week Tea Sit & Meditation
Fridays, online
January 23rd - April 17th, 2026

Welcome to a 13-week Tea Sit & Meditation practice held every Friday morning.
We begin each gathering in stillness, then move into a simple and beautiful process of learning the basics of tea ceremony to support our ritual presence.
We’ll share in a quiet, gently guided space to cultivate calm, relaxed attentiveness, and sensory connection.
This weekly Tea Sit is a way to begin your day grounded and connected, bringing reverence to beautifully ordinary moments.
In this practice, you might remember that meditation doesn’t need to be difficult or austere. It can be warm, sensory, nourishing, and remarkably simple.
Over time, you may notice your tea practice spilling into other parts of your life.
You might find yourself slowing your transitions, creating generative pauses, and softening edges where you once rushed.

A Little About My Tea and Botanical Path
My whole life, I've been infatuated with flowers, herbal medicines, tea and water. My formal connection to tea began 27 years ago at Bastyr in a TCM Psychology course. It was a beautiful opening to understanding tea as ritual, ceremony, and a way of being.

In the botanical realm, I've long been a wild-crafter of culinary herbs and medicinals, for healing and creativity in the kitchen. My home apothecary is always super well stocked.

I also hold circle gatherings where we connect with plant spirit medicine (non-psychedelic) to deepen our relationship to the language of plants and earth wisdom.

When my husband and I opened Sutra Restaurant in Seattle, I developed our non-alcoholic elixir and tonics menu out of love for medicinal plants and their power to harmonize body and mind.
This carried into creating botanical tonics at our Leavenworth Restaurant, Mana, and most recently, a brand new botanical beverage menu at La Cosecha Restaurant in Costa Rica that I'm incredibly excited about right now.

The tea practice that has reignited for me now is rooted in traditional tea ceremony with the tea plant itself. I'm looking forward to exploring the alchemy of tea, water, and presence with you.
You're welcome to ask me for recommendations, whether for specific teas or styles.
I can also share botanical or medicinal tea blends if those feel more supportive for you right now.
I'm delighted to share this space with you. My prayer is that it supports the development of a ritual practice that is quietly inspired, steady, spacious, and deeply nourishing.

If you're registered for The Altar Online, you'll find the depth of presence created in Ceremony & Ritual, Movement & Meditation, and Yoga Nidra & Writing greatly enhance the Tea Practice.
(and this 13 week tea sit is included in The Altar Online).

And it can be a beautiful stand-alone practice as well.
